Cashew Forum Coming to Kampong Thom

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Commerce is joining with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to organize a cashew forum under the theme "Together We Promote the Potential of Cambodia's Cashew" on December 6-7, 2023 at Stung Sen Park in Kampong Thom Province.

The forum will bring together all stakeholders in the cashew industry. Vendors will have a chance to display cashew products and equipment related to cashew production while businesses will be able to network to promote and enhance the reputation of Cambodian cashews.

The Ministry of Commerce encourages the public and stakeholders to participate. The Royal Government has implemented the "National Policy on Cashews 2022-2027" to promote the development of the Cambodian cashew sector and turn Cambodia into a large cashew processing and export country..

According to sources from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, farmers cultivated 435,733 hectares, harvested 330,861 hectares, and yielded 508,283 tons of cashews in 2022.

In 2022, Cambodia exported 670,000 tons of raw cashew nuts to the international market worth $1.77 billion US, to Vietnam, Japan and China.
